SANCCOB and the African Penguin

SANCCOB and the African Penguin

The South African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of coastal birds, most notably, African penguins. It is the organization connected with our Team Penguin line.

What Happens When You Purchase From Team Penguin?

When you purchase an item from Team Penguin, 10% of the proceeds fund SANCCOB and their efforts to save the African penguin from extinction. SANCCOB was chosen as the organization that we sponsor because of their transparency and their heroic efforts to safe these incredible birds. SANCCOB monitors the South African sea bird population closely and rescues wild birds that need help. They work on an individual level as well as mass efforts. This organization believes in helping one bird at a time but recognize that change will not happen if people do not know the problem exists.

What does SANCCOB do?

SANCCOB has a variety of objectives such as education, public awareness, and promoting responsible governance. They work with oiled and injured wildlife to prepare them to enter back into the wild. SANCCOB has an 81% release rate of African penguins. As South Africa has been host to many devastating oil spills, their response must be quick. SANCCOB has a response program to coastal seabirds. Acting as first responders for African penguins, they are passionate about protecting these adorable endangered species.
