Wolf Conservation Center!

Wolf Conservation Center!

In North America, it is well-known that wolves are, or once were, a critically endangered species. At one point, just 300 wild gray wolves roamed the lower 48. Since then, the population has bounced back tremendously. Species like red wolves and Mexican gray wolves are amid a similar situation. Both species are critically endangered and in need of assistance. Organizations like The Wolf Conservation Center are dedicated to helping these species. We donate to the Wolf Conservation Center through our Team Gray Wolf Collection.

Why Are Wolves Endangered?

Although once common throughout America's Southeast, there are currently 17 known red wolves in the wild. After harsh control programs in the 1960s, the red wolf population declined rapidly. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service initiated a captive breeding program in the 1970s, which has had some success in preserving the species. Wild populations remain low because of poaching, vehicle strikes, and loss of habitat. Public awareness campaigns and habitat restoration are crucial to prevent the red wolf from becoming extinct in the wild.
