As of recent estimates, there are approximately 700-1000 Luisiana black bears left in the wild.Louisiana black bears, a unique subspecies of the American black bear, inhabit the Mississippi Delta. However, due to habitat destruction and excessive hunting, their population dwindles dangerously low.

Northern Spotted Owl

Tthere are approximately 4,000 Northern spotted owls left in the wild. The primary threats to the Northern spotted owl include habitat loss from logging of old-growth forests and competition with the invasive barred owl.

Red Wolf

Only 20 red wolves are left in the wild today. Red wolves once roamed vast territories across North and Central America, playing a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance. Due to habitat destruction, and human conflict, their numbers have drastically declined.
